You Can’t CC God: Why His Assignments Still Have Your Name on Them

You Can’t CC God: Why His Assignments Still Have Your Name on Them

“Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.  1 Peter 4:10

CC is typically used when we want someone who is not the primary recipient to receive a copy of the email. CC is the abbreviated version of two words carbon copy.  In an effort to just make  life easier I find myself trying to cc God, others or abandon the assignment that God has given me.

This is what I realized when God assignments don't align with whatI visualize there is friction and a fight to be faithful in spite of there is a level of submission because at that point I have to make a decision to:

  • Trust or not.

  • Disobey or obey.

  • Wait or rush.

  • Forgive or withhold.

  • Serve or shrink.

  • Release or resist.

  • Speak or stay silent

and at the end of the day God does give us free will but there is a part of me that really doesn't want the Holy Smoke, I don't want to wonder what if, or how God would've worked it out. When we cc on our communications the thing is the intended recipient does not do away there is just now more awareness to the communications that's been sent, the ask is still there, the request is still there. We don't have to agree with gGod assignments but we must align with his assignments. They propel us for something bigger than ourselves, they propel us for His purpose and plans.

What a disappointment to see that you cc'd your assignment and someone else is doing what you were created to do (and as you are scrolling you see they don't even do it the caliber that you do it) but you know the difference between them and you. They moved, they executed. God isn't looking for people who are not willing to move.

Moses had to move

David had to move

Paul had to move

Elijah had to move

Jesus had to move

(so what makes us think we don't have/need to move

our Messiah has an assignment that requires our movement

Your assignment is yours, and honestly, it is your role to steward it well. God’s assignments for us are not random—they solve problems, shift atmospheres, and transform us. They allow us to live a life that pleases Him. They make us dependent on Him. They propel us to seek Him more.

So when we try to give away our assignments, we are essentially saying, “I don’t want to be propelled. I don’t want to seek God more. I don’t want this assignment.”

I get it—some assignments are hard, really hard and long. They require a deep level of toil that no one else understands or even desires. But we look to Jesus, who carried one of the hardest assignments in the history of this earth. He endured rejection, misunderstanding, and pain, yet He remained faithful. Looking at Jesus should propel us to honor our own assignments—to not CC God on them, to not pass them off like a hot potato, but to steward them fully.

Your assignment is yours. You can’t CC God or pass it off to someone else like it’s a hot potato—He gave it to you to steward, to grow through, and to honor Him. Hard as it may be, your assignment propels you into purpose, shapes you as a potter, shapes clay, and draws you closer to Him toward intimacy. Embrace it fully, because obedience—not avoidance—is where God’s power and purpose are revealed.
