What Inspires You To Push Yourself In Your Career?
This question was asked to me during an interview at Work when I was featured as a Woman in Business.
The interview caught me off guard, and when it was published, I found myself a little teary-eyed. But these weren’t just tears of surprise—they were tears of gratitude, recognition, and confirmation.
I have had many moments like this—moments where I’ve been unexpectedly and expectantly celebrated, acknowledged, and given my flowers. And I’ve learned something profound: receiving the flowers is just the appetizer of the entire full-course meal. The real fulfillment comes from knowing that I am walking in my calling, doing the work I was created for.
I remember a time when I was working at another company, striving for roles that aligned more with what I do now. I had a strong conviction that I was in the right industry but the wrong function. That conviction was correct. But what wasn’t correct was the posture in which I was seeking those roles. I was operating from a place of entitlement rather than alignment.
Through growth, deep reflection, and the guidance of mentors and sponsors, I’ve come to understand that alignment is the key to walking in purpose. It’s not just about moving forward—it’s about moving in the right direction. Over time, I’ve learned to trust the process, even when the journey felt uncertain.
When I seek alignment, I also find anointing. And where there is anointing, there is authenticity. I no longer push myself just to check a box or prove a point. I no longer strive just for the sake of saying, I did it. Instead, I push myself with intention, knowing that my presence in corporate spaces is not just about personal achievement—it’s about kingdom representation.
The corporate world needs individuals who are committed to reflecting God’s kingdom, and who bring integrity, excellence, and purpose into every room they step into. So here I am—Lord, send me.
“Then I heard the Lord asking, “Whom should I send as a messenger to this people? Who will go for us?” I said, “Here I am. Send me.””
I am inspired in my career because I know I am doing work that is aligned with my purpose. I no longer chase opportunities—I allow God to position me for them, I develop and make sure I am ready for when they come to me or to seek them. I no longer demand what I think I deserve—I cultivate the posture to receive what is truly meant for me.
