The Intersection of Marriage and Business

1. Don't Forget Your Why: As you are building a business and preparing for marriage. Wedding planning makes it so easy to get tangled up in the things that don't matter. Early on, we decided that we would focus on the things that would allow our marriage to sustain. For businesses that could be spending time on frivolous activities on things that do not serve the mission. For weddings, it could be getting caught up with programming and planning that you neglect the prayer and partnership that marriages require

2. Keep An Eye on Finances: If you are not careful, you could be spending money on things that do not matter. Our wedding rule was to purchase items that can be repurposed as much as possible (i.e., groomsmen suits, wedding shoes, and hair designs). According to marriage.com, money is one of the Top 10 Reasons for Divorce (https://www.marriage.com/advice/divorce/10-most-common-reasons-for-divorce/) For Kingsskid I tend to spend money on class after class after class, but I decided to slow down on spending on studies and work to execute on the things that I have already purchased.

3. Everyone Can't Come. Don't take it personally. Some people want to support you but can't come due to unavoidable circumstances, and just because someone can't be there in person doesn't mean that they are not helping you in other ways. Due to Carovanvius, some people could not attend our special day. Some people couldn't speak for Self Improvement Month, and just because they can't physically be there doesn't diminish the work and relationship you have with them. Honestly, they may not be able to be present for your wedding day, but it is their prayers that will sustain you on those trying days during your marriage and business.

4. Have People to Protect Your Vision - From my wedding coordinator to my mom, bridesmaids, and Kingsskid Board of Directors. The wedding vision was protected as if it was Kingsskid, and I appreciated that so much. We are consumed daily with information and ideas. Still, we decided that we would have a barrier of people around that protects the vision of the wedding day, marriage, and my business.

5. Delegate - Task you don't like, ask for help or automate. Don't be afraid to ask for help; don't be scared to have experts in areas you are not familiar with, people want to help, and people are willing to help; allow them to help, and whatever can be automated, automate it. It will enable you to focus on the things you do enjoy doing.

6. Breathe - Building marriage and business is not for the faint heart, they are sacred and require time to build. On the wedding day, we say" I do," but we evolve to become one, which takes work and time. Just as it takes work to write blogs, plan masterclasses, and speak with Kingsskid.
