True to the Call: Consistency in Every Space

There’s something truly special about showing up with consistency in the CROWNED Life.

This past weekend, I experienced a powerful reminder of just that. My husband and I attended a birthday celebration for his coworker.
When we arrived, she called us up to the front, and after a warm hug, we joined hands with everyone in the room to form a prayer circle. As I looked around the room, I saw someone familiar—my coworker. It was a heart-stopping moment because she and I have had a deep connection, meeting weekly to talk about faith, purpose, marriage, and career. It’s a safe place for her to process, and she’s even called me her coach. And there we were, in the same room, discovering that her cousin is my husband’s coworker. Seeing her there was an emotional reminder of God’s connections and how showing up consistently can bring us closer in ways we’d never expect.

During this Career Development Month, let’s reflect on the importance of consistency—remaining true to our character without “code-switching” or compromising our calling. We’ve all met people who act differently depending on the space they’re in, like those who might be loving leaders at church but show up disconnected and unkind at work. But God calls us to be consistent in our character, rooted in Him no matter the setting.

Here are three ways to help you show up consistently as you live out the CROWNED Life and the limiting belief that you are addressing in the process.

1. Stand Firm in Your Faith, No Matter the Setting

Just as God is unwavering, let your faith be your anchor at work. Begin each day with a prayer to stay grounded in His character, asking for guidance in your words and actions. When you’re rooted in Him, you’ll be empowered to show integrity and kindness, even in challenging environments.

Limiting Belief: "I have to conform or compromise my values to fit in or succeed at work.

This belief can lead to feeling pressured to hide or diminish your faith in order to blend into a secular workplace environment. By standing firm in your faith, you challenge this belief, affirming that it is possible to honor God openly without jeopardizing your professionalism or career progress. Rooting yourself in God’s unwavering nature allows you to approach each day with integrity and kindness, no matter the setting.

2. Reflect God’s Grace in Every Interaction: Just as we’re called to reflect His love, make it a goal to embody patience, empathy, and respect with every coworker. In the devotional, I had the privilege to be a mentor and safe space for a coworker seeking God’s guidance. Seek ways to be that encouragement for others, letting His grace shine through you as a steady influence at work.

Limiting Belief: "I can’t make a positive impact if others don’t share my beliefs."

This belief can limit your potential to be a source of encouragement and support for others, especially those who may be seeking guidance or facing challenges. Reflecting God’s grace and love, even when it isn’t reciprocated, shows that your faith transcends differences and is a strength in itself. By embodying patience, empathy, and respect in every interaction, you disprove the notion that only shared beliefs create harmony and build positive relationships.

3. Find Faithful Accountability Partners: Surround yourself with colleagues or friends who share similar values and support you in staying consistent. Having someone who encourages you to stay true to your character can help you resist the temptation to “code-switch.” They can remind you to live authentically, modeling God’s stability, regardless of the situation or people around you

Limiting Belief: "I need to ‘code-switch’ to maintain harmony with different people or groups."

The belief that you must constantly adapt yourself to different audiences can lead to feeling disconnected from your true identity and beliefs. Faithful accountability partners help reinforce your commitment to authenticity and provide support to resist the urge to change who you are based on who’s around. They encourage you to model God’s stability and remain true to your character, regardless of the situation, helping you build a consistent, genuine presence.

By staying rooted in God’s stability, you can confidently live out His calling, showing up with integrity in every space.
God provides the stability we need, allowing us to be consistent in who we are. This consistency isn’t about looking the part; it’s about standing firm in Him, showing up faithfully as representatives of Christ in every space. And sometimes, He surprises us by connecting us in unexpected ways when we’re faithfully living for Him!

Prayer:
God we come thanking you for being our Father, in a world full of instability, thank you for providing a space of intimacy for us to get to know you a space where we are strengthen to be able to walk out the calling and the crown without crushing under its weight. God we come to you asking that your forgive us for not trusting in your sovereignty and for forcing ourselves into spaces and places that you haven't called us to. Father we come again every limiting beliefs that enters into our conscious and unconscious mind and penetrates out heart and motives and influence our movements to not reflect your son Jesus as our Messiah. Allow us to rest in your promises, allow our posture to be in a position in a position to please you no matter the space you have us in. We love you and praise you. In Jesus Name Amen.
