Seeing Through The Eyes of Caleb
Numbers 13: 30-31 NLT
30 But Caleb tried to quiet the people as they stood before Moses. “Let’s go at once to take the land,” he said. “We can certainly conquer it!”
31 But the other men who had explored the land with him disagreed. “We can’t go up against them! They are stronger than we are!”
Verse 30 starting off with but is telling us that something the opposite happened prior to this experience. Caleb is one of the two spies who went to check out the Promise Land, he along with Joshua returned back with a positive report. The 12 spies went and came with a report that the land is bountiful, they also shared that the people were giants and would over take them. Caleb trusted God as the minority and he stood on it. Standing up for God when most of the spies disagreed took faith and courage.
Caleb teaches us how to take God at his word
He teaches us how to hold on to hope even if you have to face the consequences of others unbelief
He teaches us how our belief would either propel us to be courageous and conquer
In studying Caleb, I looked at my own journey and as much as I would like to admit that I am like him, I fell like I fell short. Caleb taught me how to get my courage up, if I wanted to conquer any conquest I had to level up mentally and emotionally. In studying Caleb I saw endurance difference- I no longer saw it as a daunting thing to toil through but a way to look forward to the promise and plans that God has FOR ME. I don’t know what you have had to endure through but I want you to endure like Caleb with hope and anticipation, not begrudgingly and know that as you are enduring things and people are dying. I see different.
The endurance is never and was never meant to punish me, in fact it was to propel me.
