Covered By God Calandra Williams
In 2018, I knew I wanted to help other people form their nonprofits. I went through a challenging season of launching my nonprofit organization and I didn’t want anyone else to experience that. I told God, if you show me how to start the nonprofit, I will help your people. Three years in and I have partnered with God to build my consulting business from the ground up. It is because of God that I am still growing the vision He gave me.
Can I be honest with you? When you get into the grit of launching and growing your business, it can be overwhelming. You doubt yourself; want to give up; compare and even try to compete. You can get so caught up in your lack that the vision becomes blurry.
As I was preparing to write this blog, the Holy Spirit reminded me to go back to the beginning of His word. “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. The earth was without form and void, and darkness was over the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters (Genesis 1:1-2).
You can’t begin until you understand how it started. The vision to start my business was from God. The vision to launch anything first comes from God. When it comes from Him, there’s a grace on your life to carry out the mission, but also He covers you on the journey.
What am I saying to you? Let’s go to the Bible!!
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God (John 1:1).
You must know your history in order to understand how God covers you for the assignment. The vision comes from God, the vision is with Him and it’s His vision. Period. To leave God out of whatever He has placed within you is setting you up for failure, both naturally and spiritually.
Proper alignment keeps you covered from living out your fleshly desires but yielding to what the Spirit of God has placed within you to fulfill. You need to know His voice for yourself.
“My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me (John 10:27).
Since the beginning of time, God has been covering His creation. What He has formed in you is activated when He speaks life to it. Let the Holy Spirit be present and active in your life, whether in your business, ministry, marriage, parenting, singleness, etc.
Not being under the influence of the Holy Spirit can cost you access to the promises, purposes, and people of God. God puts His Spirit in you to reveal His glory in the earth through you.
Sometimes I am not in alignment with God in my business. Simply put, I stop talking to God. It’s when I’m more focused on the task at hand than connecting with Abba, Father in prayer. When I tell you, this is a catastrophe of having to go back and repent for not doing business God’s way. Ugh, just do it right the first time!
His grace suffices to cover you, even in your weak moments. That’s what I love about God and being under His covering, it’s an automatic protection plan. The Holy Spirit will nudge at you when you are not on the right path and guide you back to seek the face of God.
Decide today to allow God into your heart to be your covering. Understanding that you can do nothing apart from Him. The idea came from Him and you need Him to give you play-by-play on how to launch and grow it.
